At Waterbury Hospital our highly skilled doctors and nurses take care of some of the most critically ill patients. We are certified as a Level II Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma. Our skilled doctors, nurses and support staff provide life-saving intensive and critical care.

The Level II Trauma Center designation means the hospital meets the highest requirements of care including:

  • 24-hour immediate coverage by general surgeons, as well as coverage by the specialties of orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology and critical care
  • Continuing staff education programs on trauma prevention

Our Excellence in Cardiac Care

When seconds count, we provide exceptional cardiac care including EKG transmission directly from the ambulance.

  • Our state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory ensures prompt care for patients with acute heart symptoms
  • Cardiac Vascular Unit which provides the best outcome for heart patients

Waterbury Hospital meets and exceeds measures for quality and excellence in cardiac care. And, we excel in emergencies where every second matters. For example, we perform among the top hospitals in the country for the time it takes in an emergency for a patient to go from the ER to the catheterization lab to open a blocked artery.

Waterbury Hospital was also designated a Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care Services by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. This distinction recognized our hospital for expertise in cardiac care and the efficient delivery of high quality cardiology services.
