COVID-19 Vaccines, Testing, Visitation Guidelines and Information

We know you might be putting off going to the doctor or the hospital right now. Please remember, your health, even your life, can depend on getting care when you need it. Don’t miss another appointment, test or screening. And go the doctor, emergency department or hospital if you don’t feel well. We’re ready for you.

Safety Measures at Waterbury HEALTH:

The Center for Disease and Control recommends that anyone over the age of 5 get a COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 vaccine is widely available throughout the state. Patient safety is our number one priority and we want you all to feel safe and confident during your visit. As our patient, you can expect that if you visit in person:
- Our offices are thoroughly sanitized and cleaned.
- Visitation polic is in accordance with the latest guidelines from OSHA, CDC, and DPH and may change.
Don’t delay emergency care. Please come to the Emergency Department or call 911. Here are some additional precautions we’ve taken to keep you safe:
- Symptomatic patients are required to wear a mask at all times
- Exam rooms are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected according to all state and federal guidelines
- Visitation may be limited in order to protect patients and staff
Waterbury HEALTH is leading the way in the use of technology to provide safe specialty healthcare to our patients. Waterbury HEALTH affiliate Alliance Medical Group offers an innovative and convenient way to visit your physician using your tablet or mobile phone.

This service, offered through a platform called doxy.me, gives you a convenient way to visit your physician without leaving your home. The provider and can communicate on a computer or mobile phone. The call is completed through video and audio and the platform is very easy to use for both patient and provider.

Please note that we require a provider’s order for testing.

Please call to schedule an appointments. The phlebotomist will collect the specimen at the patient’s vehicle in the parking lot.

Outpatient Testing (1st floor), (For patients having a procedure at Waterbury Hospital) Waterbury Hospital, 64 Robbins Street

Symptomatic patients are required to wear appropriate masks, social distance.

All patients will need to bring:
- Your driver’s license or ID
- Your insurance information
- A physician or provider’s order for the test
Please note that:

Results will be available via the Waterbury Hospital Patient Portal.

An invitation to sign up for the Portal will be provided at time of visit.

If your results are positive you will also receive a phone call from your provider.

Testing results are usually available within 48 hours.

If your COVID-19 symptoms worsen, please come to the Waterbury Hospital Emergency Department.
(Effective April 17, 2023)

Waterbury Hospital recognizes that patient visitation is an important component of the hospital experience. Patients have the right to receive visitors that they have designated unless their presence infringers on others’ rights, safety, or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. The patient also has the right to withdraw the consent for a person to visit. The designated visitors can be spouse, domestic partner (including same sex partner), friend, or family member. A support person may make this designation on behalf of the patient, if appropriate.

Visiting Hours: Visiting hours daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Maternity: Visiting hours daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fathers/significant others may visit at any time.

Intensive Care Unit: Visiting hours daily from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The visiting policy is individualized to meet patient and family/support person’s needs. All visitors are asked to use the phones in the waiting room to check with staff prior to entering the ICU.

Pomeroy 8 Inpatient Psychiatry:

Visiting Hours - Monday thru Friday 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm and 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Saturday/Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 2.

Visitor Rules: Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and supervised at all times.

All visitors should report to the Information Desk in the lobby upon entering the hospital.

Visitors must be free of COVID-19 symptoms:
- Masks are not required for staff, patients, and visitors in most situations.
- Exceptions to the new policy include:
  1. Symptomatic patients must wear masks when outside of their rooms.
  2. Visitors with symptoms are asked not to visit.
  3. Staff, patients, and visitors may choose to wear masks if they desire.
Policy is in accordance with the latest guidelines from OSHA, CDC, and DPH.

All visitors must follow our Infection Prevention Guidelines when visiting patients. If a patient is designated by Infection Prevention to be on special isolation, visitors will be asked to check with nursing before entering a patient’s room in order to receive any special instructions.

Visitation guidelines are available at that site and all visitors will be asked to follow Hospital rules and regulations throughout their visit.

After Hours Visits: Exceptions may be made to accommodate after hours visitors. Nursing and Security need to be aware of the visit and as stated before must not infringe upon the rights or safety of others. Decisions for approval of after-hours visitors are made on a case-by-case basis by the Administrative Nursing Supervisor
